Welcome to the North East Assembly's web site.

The North East Assembly (NEA) has an important role in shaping the future development of the region by:

setting the strategic framework for planning, housing, transport and sustainable development in North East England;
making sure that One NorthEast, the regional development agency, is accountable to the region;
working with partners to improve the economy, the environment and people's quality of life; and
creating space for debate and a strong voice for the region nationally and internationally.


	Regional responses to SNR consultation Organisations across North East England, including the Assembly, have submitted responses to the Government’s consultation on the Sub-National Review of Economic Development and Regeneration (SNR), which is aimed at improving economic development and regeneration in the regions. 	New RSS for North East England The revised RSS was issued by the Secretary of State on 15 July 2008. The planning framework for the region sets out the long term strategy for delivering jobs, homes and infrastructure to the region up to 2021. The plan is the culmination of the strong partnership working that exists in the region. Read more

The North East Assembly is the only regional organisation to bring together elected members of all 25 local authorities in the region, with stakeholders representing a wide range of other sectors including business, culture, trade unions, faiths, education, rural, health, voluntary, and the environment.
